Wardrobe Essentials that Will Keep You Cosy All Winter Long

Wardrobe Essentials that Will Keep You Cosy All Winter Long

Mornings feel crisp and the sun is setting at 5pm, which means the cooler months are officially here. If staring into your wardrobe wondering where all your winter staples went sounds familiar, you're not alone. Whether you're Winter-ready or still in denial about the cold, these wardrobe essentials will keep you warm and stylish this season.

Thermals

If you take one thing from this list, make it a good pair of thermals. For a long time I dismissed them, Aussie Winter seemed too mild to justify it. But since buying my first pair, I haven't looked back. They layer invisibly under everything and make the colder months genuinely comfortable. The cost per wear speaks for itself.

Funnel Neck Jacket

The funnel neck is having a moment and for good reason. Equally chic and practical, it's an outerwear trend that is worth jumping on this season. Look for trench jackets with a funnel neck closure for a silhouette that pairs with virtually anything, or a high neck windbreaker you'll find yourself reaching for on every walk and errand.

Wool Coat

On the coldest days, a wool coat is nothing short of a saving grace. Naturally insulating, breathable, and built to last, wool is one of those materials that genuinely earns its place in a winter wardrobe. Invest in a good coat once and you'll find yourself reaching for it all season, year after year.

Knee High Boots

Knee high boots are a winter hero item that never go out of style, and the right pair can elevate virtually any outfit. If you're after something sleek and polished, a pointy toe is your answer. Prefer something more relaxed and easy to wear? A rounded toe delivers just that.

Cashmere Cardigan

A cashmere cardigan is the ultimate layering piece. Wear it through the shoulder season, over a work outfit when the office aircon is relentless, or simply draped on the couch on a slow  Sunday. It is an endlessly versatile wardrobe investment that pays off all season long.

Statement Scarves

There's something about Winter that makes the coat-and-jeans combo feel like the only option. And while there's nothing wrong with a reliable insulating uniform, a good scarf goes a long way in keeping things interesting. Reach for a pop of colour or a standout pattern to give even the simplest outfit a little personality.

Mohair Sweater

A fluffy sweater is winter dressing at its most fun. Its shaggy, fluffy texture is a step up from any old regular knit – it’s characterful and cosy. And when dressing can feel impossible, it can be the simple piece that saves the day.

Uggs

Although a controversial item, an Aussie Winter would feel incomplete without a pair of Uggs. Undeniably snug and super comfy, Uggs are a go-to item at home or for quick trips out the door. Love them or hate them, once they are on your feet, you’re never looking back.

Bonnets

Imagine if a hoodie and a beanie had a cuter, more stylish offspring. A bonnet is the kind of accessory that earns its place whether the weather calls for it or not. Wear it loosely around your neck on mild days or pulled tight when a cold wind has other plans.
