MTV Video Music Awards 2022 - The Best Red Carpet Looks

MTV Video Music Awards 2022 - The Best Red Carpet Looks

Hard to believe it's already that time of year. The VMAs is one of the most memorable red carpet moments of the award show season. Who can forget that Lady Gaga meat dress back in 2010? The place where more is always more, and you really cannot do any wrong. Let's look at some of the best outfits and trends that have been spotted this year at the MTV Video Music Awards.

All black is back

We are seeing the revival of all black everything. We steered away from wearing all black for the last couple of years, but now thanks to the new and improved goth era, we’re seeing all black outfits coming back. Bebe Rexha gave us super glam in her Vivienne Westwood ensemble, while Lili Reinhart is looking chic in a black lace, sheer number.

Roaring 20’s

An iconic decade for fashion was the 1920s. The Great Gatsby era consisted of flapper style, drop-waist dresses and sequins. This year on the VMAs red carpet saw Taylor Swift doing a silver sequinned 1920s-inspired mini dress and Rachel Lindsay in an all-black, feather-embellished mini dress.

Shining in Silver

Following on from the Roaring 20s, a popular colour on the carpet this year was Silver.

Cut-outs

A major trend in fashion this year is cut-outs. We saw the trend take over Copenhagen Fashion Week. As seen on

Return of the Goth

The Goth era is slowly making its rightful comeback within both music and fashion. The red carpet was no stranger to the punk style. The pop Punk queen herself Avril Lavigne looks like she is still in her Sk8er boi phase, while newcomer to the scene Dove Cameron added a playful twist to the usually grungey style.

Embellishments'

One of my favourite trends from the carpet is embellishments. Becky G in her Tarot Card inspired dress and Justina Valentine in that epic jumpsuit are some honorable mentions.

The statements

Let’s finish off with the ones who really went bold and made a statement this year. Because that is what the VMAs is for!
