Iconic Looks From Sex & The City

Iconic Looks From Sex & The City

With the imminent return of one of the most fashionable TV series ever, we thought it was the perfect time to revisit the most Iconic looks of the original series. Sex and The City ran for 6 seasons. Not that long in this era of the Netflix binge, but in those 6 years it was one of the biggest pop culture phenomenons of it’s time. So much so that it is getting rebooted almost 20 years later! It was a show that had everyone drinking cosmopolitans, splashing out on Manolo’s and dreaming about a life in NYC, but most of all it was the clothes!

There was Carrie’s eclectic designer chic, Charlotte’s park avenue princess, Mrianda’s power suits and to Samanthas bold boss. Let’s revisit the best of the best.

1. Carrie’s fashion always stood out in a crowd. It pushed the boundaries of what was safe and on trend and took it to the next level. Her designer wardrobe was the envy of most women as everyone conveniently overlooked that fact that no average single woman could afford it.

This stunning look from the final season is one of the most memorable. A grown up refined Carrie but still Carrie with the whimsical tule, the accent of fur and gold stilettos. The perfect dress for running around Paris!

2. The iconic pink Oscar de la Renta that Carrie is given for a trip to the Opera but ended up wearing to McDonalds. This had to make the list. The shocking pink and unusual cut of the dress made it both elegant and modern. Definitely a memorable moment. I wish someone would give me a designer dress to wear for a night out!

3. Who could forget Charlotte’s Elizabeth Taylor moment. It was a brilliant example of when fashion gives us strength and is our armour for those tough days. Not only is it a stunning and beautiful dress, it was an iconic moment when she walks out the front doors wearing it.

4. Samantha has so many great party girl looks but this moment where she turns up in the same dress as Miley Cyrus was the best of all! Samantha taught us that no matter what, make it work and confidence is key.

5. The queen of the power suit. Miranda showed us some of the best suiting looks of the late 90s early 2000s. I’m sure she’d be a fan of the return of the suiting look. While she was understated, Miranda’s looks were powerful and definitely embodied the career woman of the time.

6. We couldn’t do a recap without visiting one of Carrie’s earlier looks. She definitely had a corsage stage, pinning oversized fake flowers to her looks. The braless tank with designer bag look was also quintessentially Carrie.

7. We can’t do iconic looks without including the outfit from the opening credits. Carrie’s original tutu dress was the inspiration for the green Paris tutu and this pink outfit is what introduced us to Carrie Bradshaw the average NYC single girl who always managed to stand out.

8. Last but not least, yes, it’s the “Naked” dress. The infamous dress that created all kids of trouble for Carrie. As seen in her picture on the side of the bus and her date with Mr Big.

We hope you enjoyed this trip down memory lane and are just as excited for all the fabulous fashion the reboot promises to bring!
