To many people’s shock and dismay, I recently started watching Friends from the beginning.
Yes, I had seen plenty of reruns over the years, but never in the right order and always missing the underlying plot and clever continuity.

If you have watched Friends in the past you may (or may not) remember the outfits. While each character was influential in their own time, none more so than Rachel Green. Who even inspired a generation of matching haircuts, donned the “Rachel”.

Watching the show in the present day 2020, Rachel’s style and outfit might just be even more iconic then it was then. What with 90s fashion having a full resurgence.

Rachel changes clothes a lot, and there are a lot of episodes (235!) But there’s no time for that.

Here are 5 of my favourite outfits from Rachel, (that I would totally wear today)

Tennis Skirts are having a major resurgence right now, while I haven’t jumped on the bandwagon just yet it’s only a matter of time. My Instagram feed is flooded with tennis skirts (paired with vests) and it definitely looks like an easy trend to be on board with.

I love how Rachel has paired it with a turtleneck knit sweater, and high socks. While I can’t see myself bringing back the knee-high socks anytime soon, I love how it makes this outfit a bit easier to wear in cooler weather.

Midi Dresses exactly this style are definitely having their moment right now. This cool minty green shade is also something I would okay with adding into my wardrobe asap. Is anyone else over mini dresses? (Just me?) Rachel is all the short girl inspo I need to start wearing long dresses. No need to feel like you’re too short to wear anything below the knee. I am here for it!

Let’s unpack here, Pink is coming back in a big way! Millenials have completely rebranded pink, and rightfully so. No longer is it the ultra girly colour that it was so wrongly labelled. We should feel free to wear pink and own our femininity, and no one can tell us any different.

Right now I’m really vibing open button ups, with tops underneath, paired with denim or linen shorts. You’ll see me wearing a lot of this all through Spring & Summer this year, with the button ups changing with the weather. Long sleeves rolled up can be really breezy on hotter days.

More green, yes please! High neck, sleeveless knits are like at least a quarter of my wardrobe right now. They can easily be dressed up or down, and made look a bit business-like, as Rachel has done here.

I love that it’s paired with the tartan pencil skirt that has a bit of green in it to make it extra matchy. Very 90s school teacher vibes. The top makes what would normally be a very business style skirt look totally chic and I’m here for it.

Slip dresses and layers, it’s the style trend from the 90s I hope never goes back away. Not only is it super sustainable to be able to wear all your summer dresses in Winter with just a simple long sleeve underneath, but it also looks great too! I almost feel a bit bare wearing my slip dresses without tees underneath now.

I often wear high neck tops underneath my dresses, but I am really liking the scoop neck here which means it’s a style I’d definitely be willing to try. It’s a yes from me.

Have I ever watched a show so fashionably inspirational? Probably, yes but this is right up there. Honestly, I really enjoy everyone in the show’s fashion, (Not you Ross) and I know Rachel generally gets the spotlight. But she’s probably the character with the most realistic and affordable style that I can relate to the most.

I can’t wait to watch more episodes and find even more outfit inspo!
