How To | Pull Off The Puff Sleeves Trend

How To | Pull Off The Puff Sleeves Trend

As we have noticed by now, most trends are too fleeting to catch up. However, the puff sleeve trend proves it wrong. It has been around for almost 3 years and is still going strong. From recent runway looks to Netflix drama "Bridgerton", we can still feel the staying power of puff sleeve and cottagecore aesthetic.

They are bold and romantic, but the question here is, how to incorporate trends into your everyday look. So here I pieced together 4 looks for you to enjoy this trends on an everyday basis.

The romance of wearing all white

I'm a big fan of monochromatic look. It definitely is a look that takes the least energy to put together but still appears to be chic. Talking about puff sleeve trend, the first word that pops into my head is for sure "romance”. What else is more romantic than an all white look?

I paired the puff sleeve top with a shorts with crochet hem, where romance lies in the details. If you ask me, I wouldn't pick a long skirt or trousers here since the top has a mock neck. Showing a bit more skin in the bottom half helps to balance the look. On a chilly day, replace the mule with a pair of over-the-knee boots.

A LBD with a twist

When scrolling my Instagram explore page, the most worn piece for the cottagecore aesthetic always appears to be a voluminous sleeve dress. If you consider the top in the first look being a bit too exaggerated for daily wear, then maybe this black dress would be your perfect choice.

The subtle puff sleeves and the little ruffles beaded around the dress without doubt are feminine details. The mini dress I chose might be more fit for petite women, in which they won't feel they are about to drown themselves in the garment. A midi dress or maxi dresses would look more flattering on tall girls.

Take a moment to be cute

I have to say this Aje top is becoming one of my most worn pieces in my wardrobe. You can dress it up by pairing with skirts and heels while dressing it down with a pair of jeans. The silhouette is definitely on the low-key side compared to a statement puff sleeve design.

Here, I left one button unbuttoned to create a casual effortless look. Oh, off-the-shoulder look could be another option. To make this basic look less boring, I dressed it up with a striped A-line skirt.

Being in a more conservative environment doesn't mean you have to give up this bold-looking trend. Let's play with the basic work outfit combination, that is, a white blouse and a midi skirt.

The blouse I picked up is a classic V-neck doll collar design. You can tell that the fullness only gathers at the top, which makes the garment more appropriate for workwear.
